Duffield Parish Council Newsletter - Issue No.79 (March 2010) DOG BINS There have been some concerns raised with the Parish Council regarding the emptying of bins on some footpaths and on Eyes Meadow. All bins are emptied by Amber Valley. Over the winter period there was some mix up with access to Eyes Meadow, which meant that for a short period of time the bins could not be emptied. This matter has now been rectified. We apologise for any concerns that this has raised.  Whilst looking at the issue of littering and fouling we have also raised concerns with Amber Valley Borough Council about the amount of dog fouling taking place on Styles Walk, the footpath off Chapel Street which runs behind the tennis club. Amber Valley has confirmed that the number of bins provided in the area is sufficient and that the fouling issue will be addressed by increased visits from the dog wardens who will issue on the spot fines for anyone caught fouling the area.  OUTLINE PLANNING FOR EYES MEADOW The Parish Council have submitted outline planning permission fora building to house new sports changing rooms and club house facilities at Eyes Meadow. The building will service the needs of the many people that use the meadow for sport and recreation and will replace the existing buildings on the site. Once outline planning permission is in place fundraising to take the project forward will be able to start. The Parish Council is working with the groups who use the meadow to ensure that the building best meets the requirements of users. Full plans for the building need to be drawn up and no final plan is in place at the moment as consultations as to what is included are still taking place. If you would like to know more about the proposals or have any ideas about what should be included please contact the Clerk at the Parish office or send an email via the contact button on the website. All those involved with the project want to hear your views. WORK ON THE GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE TO START Work to increase the size of the existing Garden of Remembrance at Duffield Cemetery on Hazelwood Road will be commencing shortly. The work will be completed by the Community Payback Scheme who has just finished clearing an extension area to the Garden of Remembrance on the same site. The work will involve creating new paths and internment areas. The work will be completed in stages to reduce any disruption to users of the Garden.. Anyone with any concerns about the work should contact either the Cemetery Superintendent or the Parish Clerk who will be happy to discuss the project. JOG DERBYSHIRE Jog Derbyshire is the county’s recreational jogging network. There are currently around 45 active jogging groups in Derbyshire, eight  of which are in Amber Valley. The scheme has over 700 members and over 100 volunteer leaders. The project is a not for profit scheme funded by Sport England and the Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust. There are now plans to set up a group in Duffield and the organizers are looking for members who may be interested. The group is intended for beginners, so if you have never tried jogging before and would like to start this is an ideal opportunity for you.
