Duffield Parish Council Newsletter - Issue No.102 (February 2012)
PARISH PRECEPT FOR 2012/2013
Following the approval of the annual budget for 2012/13 the Parish Council resolved to increase the level of the Parish
Precept for 2012/13 from £100,826 to £105,867.
The precept was set following a review of the budgets of the Parish Council and the rise reflects the significant
increases the Parish Council has experienced due to high levels of inflation over the past two years. Whilst there has
been no increase in staff salaries over this period, reserves have been used to help maintain services thus ensuring that
the level of increase in the precept was as low as possible.
Unfortunately all spare reserves have now been used and the Parish Council had no choice but to increase the precept
to ensure that the Parish Council can meet its service requirements.
The money raised by the precept covers the cost of maintaining Eyes Meadow, Gray Recreational Ground and Duffield
Cemetery. Included on these sites are four properties for which the Council is responsible, three of which are listed
buildings.
In addition to these assets the Parish Council also undertakes maintenance and repair of some local footpaths and
roadways. It also supports local organisations such as the Brownies and Massive through its grant scheme. The Council
continually looks at ways in which is can become more efficient and strives to offer excellent service and value for
money as efficiently and effectively as possible.
PARISH COUNCIL WEBSITE
The Parish Council will be reviewing its website and updating it. Is there anything that you would like to see on the
website that is currently unavailable?
Work on the website is under way, so please let us have your ideas which you can send to

PARKING AT CHURCH DRIVE
Planning permission has been submitted by the Parish Council for improvement works to be undertaken on their land at
Church Drive, Duffield.
The works are for the current area of waste land on the site to be re- classified as car parking and for a stone car park
to be laid over the whole of the surface. This will give additional overspill parking in the area and will compliment the
tarmac car park that is currently located on the site, which is also owned by the Parish Council.
USE FOR THE COMMITTEE ROOM ON HAZELWOOD ROAD
Following a decision by the Parish Council to permanently relocate its meetings at the Weston Centre, Duffield,
enquiries are currently being made for the use of the Committee Room on Hazelwood Road.
The building which is grade II listed, and dates back to around 1895 is now unused and surplus to the needs of the
Parish Council. If you have any ideas about a possible use for the building the Parish Council would like to hear from
you.
